AFDS (Aidan Fidgeon Drone Solutions) was established in June 2021 by Aidan Fidgeon a Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng MIEI), who has been involved in traditional and aerial surveying since 1990 with over 30 years working at Dublin Airport in various construction related roles, from designing carparks, roads, aprons & taxiways, to project managing other airfield, commercial and building development projects including the North Runway at Dublin Airport.
This business combines three of our passions, topographical surveying, aviation and developing solutions. We have over 30 years’ experience in these areas and have carried out extensive topographical surveys of Dublin Airport, Cork Airport and Shannon Airport, including the main runways, during this time. We also managed the aerial survey of the North Runway at Dublin Airport which was one of the largest aerial surveys undertaken at the time.
We have managed many multi-million euro development projects at Dublin Airport and prepared many Aeronautical Studies and Safety Assessments. We are proficient in the design and operation of aerodromes and associated aviation activity and in the preparation of aviation related Risk Assessments. This is very important in the pre planning stage of any project where drone flying is required.
AFDS core business is Topographical Surveying and Building Measured Surveys using GPS/GNSS and Total Station. We also, when suitable, carry out aerial surveys using photogrammetry through the use of Small Unmanned Aircraft (SUA). We also provide other services including, structure inspections (building, bridge, towers etc), general photography, general video including promotional video.
Aidan Fidgeon is a fully qualified drone operator and is licenced by the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) and has experience flying drones in controlled airspace. If necessary we can obtain the necessary IAA approvals for flying in controlled airspace.
We are SafePass (Solas) approved for construction site work/access.
We are fully compliant and operate within The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679
